Our new video calling feature now works directly via the family.cards companion app – without third-party providers and without the need for family members to register.
Calls in both directions:

Parents can use a card on the reader to initiate a call, which appears directly on the family.cards companion app for their relatives.
In the family.cards companion app you can create and link cards for parents.

It's that simple: explained step by step
1. Download the app
Download the family.cards companion app to your smartphone – available for Android and iOS.
2. Order and personalize cards
You can easily order video call cards in the family.cards companion app.
In the "My Cards" tab you can configure your ordered video call card:

Upload photo and name of the person called

Specify the email address to which the call should go

The invited person will automatically receive an email with a link to connect the app, as well as the link to download the app.
- The card will be produced and shipped once it has been personalized .
3. Link parent system to card
After downloading, click the link to link the card you were invited to. The card and app will then be linked to the parent system. This way, calls made with this card will always reach the right person.

Why this is important
Video calls are a valuable emotional anchor, especially when parents or grandparents live alone or are no longer mobile. But what seems technically simple often presents a barrier.
Three frequently asked questions about video telephony with family.cards:
1. Do I have to register to receive a call?
No – just an email address is sufficient. The app can be used without registration.
2. Can multiple family members use the same card?
Each card is linked to an email address – but of course you can create multiple cards for different contacts.
3. What happens if someone loses the card?
It's very simple: you can order new cards in the app – they will be personalized and delivered directly to your home.
